NEW TO NPSS ARTS: ARTS AND CULTURE SHSM (Specialist High Major Skills)
What is it?
- The Arts & Culture Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) is designed for grade 11 and 12 students who want to focus on creative fields, gain hands-on experience, and build transferable skills for a variety of careers.
- Students will complete 4 major credits in arts and culture-related subjects, 2 supporting credits, and 2 co-op credits, while earning industry-recognized certifications. These certifications, trainings, and experiential learning opportunities—offered at no cost to students—are tailored to support careers in fields like media production, performing arts, law, and more.
- This SHSM program prepares students for success in all post-secondary pathways—whether you're planning to attend college, university, or head directly into the workforce. Along the way, you'll gain transferrable in-demand skills like problem-solving, critical and creative thinking, and leadership, which are essential in today’s job market across many industries.
- For more information or questions about the application process, please email Ms Emma Myers at [email protected].
