NEW TO NPSS ARTS: ARTS AND CULTURE SHSM (Specialist High Major Skills)

What is it?

  1. The Arts & Culture Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) is designed for grade 11 and 12 students who want to focus on creative fields, gain hands-on experience, and build transferable skills for a variety of careers.
  2. Students will complete 4 major credits in arts and culture-related subjects, 2 supporting credits, and 2 co-op credits, while earning industry-recognized certifications. These certifications, trainings, and experiential learning opportunities—offered at no cost to students—are tailored to support careers in fields like media production, performing arts, law, and more.
  3. This SHSM program prepares students for success in all post-secondary pathways—whether you're planning to attend college, university, or head directly into the workforce. Along the way, you'll gain transferrable in-demand skills like problem-solving, critical and creative thinking, and leadership, which are essential in today’s job market across many industries.
  4. For more information or questions about the application process, please email Ms Emma Myers at [email protected].
